santa rosa plum soda
Continuing with the theme of stone fruit, I wanted to experiment with making plum soda. I received a soda-maker as a gift at Christmas, and have been wanting to experiment with different sodas. Given my issues with feeling obliged not to waste, we first had to work our way through the icky syrups they provided […]

peach pie, 2 ways
I was inspired by the beautiful bounty of stone fruit that Northern California yields during the summertime. So, I developed two recipes for peach pie, one with the more experimental basil, and one with an old favorite, ginger.

veggie burger patties
I was recently reading this month’s Cook’s Illustrated which featured a recipe for turkey burgers and potato rolls. I got inspired. I used techniques from both the turkey burger recipe as well as Cook’s recipe for veggie patties to create this version. I used vegetable broth, soy sauce, onions, tomato paste, and spices to boost the umami […]

vegan greek salad
I have been making this salad since high school! It is a great summer salad to go with dinner or, if you had a protein, it can make a great entrée. I like to add baked tofu. There is nothing super remarkable about this combination of ingredients, except that the mint really makes this otherwise […]

vegan nachos
I recently made a batch of vegan mac & cheese, and made some extra cheese sauce to make nachos. A friend of mine had requested a recipe for vegan nachos forever ago, and I was finally able to oblige. Plus, I have recently been mildly obsessed with “nacho slices” — those pickled jalapeno slices that […]
