About

This blog is about food — cooking, serving and eating.

Cooking has been (and still is) an exploration for me. From the rocky beginnings of burned pans and overcooked stir fry through a foray into home-canning to now. That’s why I created the _veg here_ blog. Cooking has been (and continues to be) a trip for me. A roadtrip of sorts.

If this blog piled into a van, 3 out of 6 of the passengers would be vegan. The other 3 would be vegetarian. One of the passengers would be a lover of cheese, chocolate and rosé. One passenger is a lover of salads, chard and, garlic, in all its various states of decomposition. One passenger would love homegrown tomatoes. One passenger would have won a cooking contest in San Francisco with the entry of an Alabama Lane Cake inspired by To Kill A Mockingbird. Two passengers would have cooked vegan and vegetarian brunches for 80  people at their friends’ weddings. Several passengers occasionally write down recipes they have created. But not always. And not with precision.

All six would love to eat; at restaurants and at home. They would all read about food; books, magazines and blogs (one might even admit that she looks up recipes on the Food Network site and watches Top Chef episodes whenever they are available on Virgin America flights). Another one would admit that Cook’s Illustrated has made her a better cook, despite being such a meat-heavy magazine. Six out of six would also love to cook and share food they have made with those they love.

The driver of this van has had idea after idea about ways to share her love of cooking and food with her friends and family. This blog is the forum for those ideas to come to fruition. The driver is me.
